Watch the 12.9-inch iPad Pro teardown reveal Apple’s secrets

2018 iPad Pro Can Be Attached To A Fridge Door Using Magic Of Magnets

The smaller variant fits in the same footprint as the iPad Pro 10.5-inch model from previous year.

The Apple iPad Pro 11-inch and its new best friend, the Apple Pencil 2, enter the pantheon of iFixit teardowns. The MacBook Air 2018 is also listed for pre-orders on both sites, however, there is no word on the actual sale date.

The new speaker array - comprised of four tweeters and four woofers - are responsible for a whole lotta magnets in the iPad Pro, along with those for the new Pencil's attachment for the charger.

As for the pricing, the iPad Pro 11-inch Wi-Fi only will carry a price tag of Rs 71,900 for the 64GB variant, Rs 85,900 for the 256GB storage variant, Rs 1,03,900 for 512GB variant and Rs 1,39,900 for the 1TB variant. The iPad Pro 12.9-inch with WiFi only starts at Rs 89,900 for the 64GB variant, 256GB version will cost Rs 1,03,900, while the 512GB option will cost Rs 1,21,900. The new 12.9-inch model is smaller than last year's variant. The iPad Pro now comes with up to 1TB of inbuilt storage.

On the other hand, the Wi-Fi+ Cellular variant of the iPad Pro with 11-inch display will come with a price tag of Rs 85,990, Rs 99,900 for the 256GB variant, Rs 1,17,900 for the 512GB variant and Rs 1,53,900 for the top-end 1TB variant.

iFixit points out that dropping the physical home button removes a common point of failure.

The 11 inch iPad Pro features an 11 inch display hat comes with a resolution of 2388 x 1668 pixels, the device is powered by the Apple A12X Bionic processor. Both have the same pixel density though at 264 ppi.

Powering both the models of iPad Pro 2018 is Apple's own A12X Bionic 7nm chipset. The SoC has an 8-core CPU and a 7-core GPU, the latter offers 2x the graphics performance compared to last year's Apple A11X. The iPad Pro also comes with the gesture-based navigation system as we see in the iPhones. This is also the first iOS device to sport a USB Type-C port for charging, data transfer, and external connectivity. For imaging, the iPad Pro makes use of a 12MP rear camera and a 7MP TrueDepth front camera. The new Smart Keyboard Folio for the new iPad Pro is available in space grey at a price of Rs 15,900 for the 11-inch model and Rs 17,900 for the 12.9-inch model. Published Monday, the iPad Pro teardown reveals that underneath the new gadgets' slick surfaces lies a tap-happy array of sensors, smaller battery, the usual gluefest and a field of magnets.
