Disc-less Xbox One sku coming in spring 2019 - rumor

PS4 black Friday deals 2018

On Thursday, Microsoft kicked off its Black Friday Xbox One game deals a few days early for paying members, giving them a 4-day head start on hundreds of digital games that are on sale. Without a disc drive, it obviously can't play physical media, but those who already have a library of games will reportedly be able to trade them in with Microsoft in exchange for digital copies of those same titles.

The device will allegedly serve as a bridging product ahead of the 2020 release of the next-gen Scarlett family of devices.

Sams said that the disc-less Xbox One console could be launching in Spring 2019, while the cost-saving version of the Xbox One S could be launched later in the year.

Kim Porter (2018), Model and former girlfriend of Sean "Diddy" Combs
While Kim's cause of death has not yet been determined, law enforcement sources confirmed no foul play was involved . The 47-year-old was reportedly found dead in her Toluca Lake, California, home on Thursday, according to Variety .

With the rise of digital downloads over physical purchases a disc-less console makes sense, but its real benefit is to lower the price of the console below that of even the Xbox One S - since not including the disc drive saves considerably on parts and manufacture. Is it worth the lower price to be limited to digital only content? This "slim" offering will also feature a cheaper price point, but it will still include a drive for discs.

If this idea sounds familiar, it's because Don Mattrick pitched this as the idea for the Xbox One - an idea widely loathed by the gaming community. When you pair this new hardware with the upcoming streaming service the company is developing, the road ahead for Xbox fans is incredibly bright.

Thurott's Brad Sams says that the console is basically an Xbox One S with the optical drive removed - a change created to bring the Xbox One hardware's price to the lowest point possible.
