Monkey Snatches, Kills Baby in Agra, India

"The main door of the house was open and my wife was breastfeeding our son", the 12-day-old baby's father was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

"Monkey attacks have become so frequent that women and children are reluctant to move around freely", he said.

The family then took the boy to another hospital, after not being able to digest the news but doctors there also confirmed he child had died.

The baby named Sunny was found in a terrace adjacent to his mother, Neha's house and was pronounced dead on arrival to hospital.

The monkey snatched the baby from the mother and bit it on the face causing fatal injuries.

The baby's uncle, Dhirendra Kumar, said that the infant's family are heartbroken by the loss and that they now "live in fear" of the growing number of monkeys. Some local organizations have called for monkeys to be sterilized and excluded from wildlife protection legislation, Singh added.
