Disney Donates $500,000 to Help Those Impacted by California Fires

The Woolsey Fire burns along the ridgeline off of Cornell Road near Paramount Ranch on the morning

At least 44 deaths have been reported so far from the late-season wildfires and with hundreds of people unaccounted for the toll is likely to rise, as thousands of tired firefighters waged a pitched battle against the deadliest infernos in California's history.

ASSOCIATED PRESS Search and rescue workers search for human remains at a trailer park burned in the Camp fire on November 13, 2018, in Paradise, California.

Before the Paradise tragedy, the deadliest single fire on record in California was a 1933 blaze in Griffith Park in Los Angeles that killed 29.

This followed a large flare-up that erupted near Lake Sherwood south of Thousand Oaks on Tuesday afternoon which forced residents who had just been allowed to return home to flee again.

The state-wide death toll from both the Camp and Woolsey fires had risen to 51. It has virtually destroyed the town of Paradise.

The town and surrounding area bore the brunt of the inferno, which started in nearby forest on Thursday.

"This is an unprecedented event", Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea said Monday night, according to Capital Public Radio in Sacramento. Later that afternoon, the company also reported damage to a transmission tower near the town of Pulga, close to where the fire is believed to have begun some time that day. "These toxic materials are in the SSFL's soil and vegetation, and when it burns and becomes airborne in smoke and ash, there is real possibility of heightened exposure for area residents", said Dr. Robert Dodge, president of the Los Angeles-based charter of Physicians for Social Responsibility. "It would have been such an easy decision to stay, but it was the wrong choice", Gibson said from the Neighborhood Church in Chico, California. Jordan said no one seemed to know whether they were able to get out or whether their house was still standing.

A message board at a shelter for the many people who fled California's deadliest wildfire is filled with photos of the missing, as well as pleas for any information about relatives and friends.

It is still burning across more than 97,000 acres but is 47% contained, the state fire service tweeted.

The Woolsey Fire is estimated to have destroyed 435 buildings. It is only 10 percent contained.

Injuries piled up on the defensive side of the ball as Nick Perry missed the entire second half with a knee injury. The Dolphins last scored a touchdown offensively on October 25 during the third quarter against the Texans.

"We were trying to move tens of thousands of people out of an area, very rapidly, with the fire coming very rapidly, and no matter what your plan is to do that, no plan will ever work 100 percent when you're dealing with that much chaos", he said.

"This gives us the opportunity to construct our lines, so we can be ready for the fire and put it out", he said.

Some residents have returned to what's left of their gutted homes but plenty others have not.

He says strong winds have subsided and humidity is up, helping more than 5,600 firefighters. Brown is expected to speak after being briefed about the latest on the fire.

Seasonal Santa Ana winds have fanned fires across the state, as they blew in from mountain and desert areas. They are going to blow for the next three days. Later, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said evacuation orders for several areas of Malibu would be lifted at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

"We don't specifically have a time frame", said Cal Fire incident commander Todd Durham.

What do the politicians say?

The Trump Administration has approved a Federal Emergency Declaration for the California wildfires.

The funds will go to the California Community Foundation's Wildfire Relief Fund and the California Fire Foundation.

Mr Trump's response to the fires has been criticised as unsympathetic and ill-informed.
