"Let's just say that technology-wise it's relatively easy to disturb a radio signal transmitted across an open space".

NATO's huge exercise Trident Juncture that included soldiers from 31 countries, was staged in Norway from October 25 to November 7.

Finland's state Air Navigation Services issued a warning to civilian air traffic earlier last week.

When asked to take a stance against reported Global Positioning System interference during the recent NATO drill Trident Juncture, the largest on Norwegian soil in decades, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg chose not to perpetuate speculations regarding Russia's involvement and refused to go into detail.

It was part of the Trident Juncture 2018 exercise that involves around 50,000 participants from all 29 North Atlantic Treaty Organisation member nations and its partners Sweden and Finland, with about 250 aircraft, 65 vessels and up to 10,000 vehicles.

United Kingdom police thank David Schwimmer after lookalike was arrested this week
As many fans pointed out last month via Blackpool Police's Facebook page, the theft suspect looks nearly identical to Schwimmer. Authorities wanted to speak to him in relation to a theft at a Blackpool restaurant on the September 20.

Mr Silipa appeared to point the finger at the Russians during an interview with Finnish public broadcaster Yle, noting that the Kremlin "is known to possess such capabilities". "We're now investigating it and will react accordingly".

Last week, Norwegian outlet Barents Observer reported on the loss of Global Positioning System signals in parts of Norway's airspace. Mr Sipilä said: "It is possible that Russian Federation has been the disrupting party in this. It threatened the air security of ordinary people".

Sipila, who is a pilot, said the goal of such interference would be to demonstrate the culprit's ability to do so and that the incident would be treated as a breach of Finland's airspace. Sixty-five vessels, 150 aircraft and 10,000 vehicles were involved alongside the 50,000 troops.

Meanwhile, Finnish President Sauli Niinisto has joined the score of Finnish politicians demanding an investigation of the reported interference.

The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russian Federation was not to blame.
