Tropical wave heading toward Caribbean, 50% chance of development

If the storm does continue to develop, it will be named Patty.

A late-season storm forming in the Atlantic has a 90 percent chance of evolving into something more serious, the National Hurricane Center reports.

The 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season doesn't end until November 30, and there's one more system out there that National Hurricane Center forecasters say could turn into a tropical depression or tropical storm in the coming days.

"It hasn't even really developed into anything yet", McMichael said."Conditions are becoming more favorable for something to develop".

While Caribbean countries have been spared for most of the 2018 hurricane season, heavy rains in several countries have led to floods, landslides and millions of dollars in damage. This weather disturbance isn't expected to be a major hurricane.

Call for open markets as world leaders gather in Singapore
The agreement was signed after nine rounds of negotiations involving representatives of 10 ASEAN member countries. Many diplomats and rights activists say ASEAN's credibility is at risk if it fails to tackle the matter head-on.

This year, the National Hurricane Center notes, October was busier than usual for tropical storms. A depression is the weakest grade of tropical cyclone, with the next strongest being tropical storms and then hurricanes.

The patch of worrisome weather is forecast to move westward to west-northwestward for the next few days, passing near the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, Hispaniola and the southeastern Bahamas.

"Even if that scenario pans out and a tropical depression or storm never forms, downpours and gusty winds would still spread from the Leeward Islands to Hispaniola Monday night into Thursday", according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Courtney Travis.

"The potential for this system to become a tropical or subtropical cyclone has decreased", according to the evening advisory.
