Uganda has started vaccinating health workers against Ebola in a border district near the outbreak in Congo.
"The public health risk of cross border transmission of Ebola to Uganda [from DRC] was assessed to be very high at the national level", said Jane Aceng, Uganda's health minister.
The World Health Organization (WHO) says the EVD outbreak continues to be of grave concern, particularly with geographical spread of the disease to a new area, as well as the increasing number of confirmed cases and contacts to be followed in Beni.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, will visit the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) from November 5 to 9, where several regions suffer the appearance of Ebola.
10 dead in Sicily floods
It quoted the husband, Andrea Cardenale, as saying as he drove away as "water was up to the hood of the vehicle ". AFP said a man was also found dead in his vehicle following the floods , while two other people are missing.
The vaccination programme launches on Wednesday with support from the World Health Organization, targeting 2,000 frontline workers in districts close to DRC's North Kivu province, which is now experiencing an outbreak of the deadly virus.
The vaccine, although subject to more scientific research and is still not yet licensed, is "being used on a compassionate basis, to protect persons at highest risk of the Ebola outbreak", the statement said.
If worldwide Ebola containment efforts fail in the Congo, it would mark the first time the virus was not stopped since 1976, when Ebola was first identified.
"The virus has killed 186 people in the North Kivu and Ituri regions, while 88 others have been cured, " the ministry said on Monday.
