Top lawmakers to interview Rosenstein over reports he secretly taped Trump

Judiciary Chairman Robert Goodlatte, R-Va., and Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., said in a statement that the interview will be held in a secure room and that a transcript will be released after the intelligence community reviews it for classified information.

"It's time that Rod Rosenstein steps down".

Members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus had originally pushed for Rosenstein to appear, but they will be left out of the meeting.

There are, of course, lingering questions about that recent report saying Rosenstein had at one point talked about secretly recording Trump, though subsequent reporting said people had interpreted it as a joke. Michael Cohen, the ex-Trump attorney who was convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion in a separate investigation by federal prosecutors, is reportedly also cooperating with Mueller, as is Trump organization CFO Allen Weisselburg. But Trump later declared Rosenstein's job safe.

Migrant caravan organizer to be deported to Honduras from Guatemala
The Honduran security ministry indicated that Fuentes was detained for violating Guatemala's immigration rules. Three weeks before midterm elections in the United States, the caravan elicited a tough response from Trump.

Goodlatte had said he would consider issuing a subpoena for Rosenstein's testimony, if he failed to show up for an interview. "We need to get to the bottom of these very serious claims".

Baker, who left the bureau earlier this year, is testifying before the House Judiciary Committee behind closed doors Thursday about the genesis of the FBI's Russian Federation case and about the surveillance warrant application for Trump campaign aide Carter Page. He did not elaborate or provide evidence for those claims.

The Justice Department continues its investigation into the Trump campaign's ties to the Russians, and CNN reported on Wednesday. that Paul Manafort - Trump's former campaign aide - and his team of lawyers have visited the special counsel's office in Washington, D.C.

Special counsel Robert Mueller is ready to deliver his key findings - but not until after the midterms - in the investigation into Trump campaign collusion with Russian Federation during the 2016 election, according to two US officials.
