Four men were killed when a fight between two families turned into a shootout at the birthday party for a 1-year-old in Texas, state officials said.

Police responded to reports of a shooting at a home on Wilburn Street on Saturday following a reported altercation between two families at a toddler's birthday party.

"The Texas Rangers notified the department of the incident and as of right now this is an ongoing investigation", Sgt. Nathan Brandley, the spokesman for the Texas Department of Safety, told reporters.

The four deceased were identified as 62-year-old Juan Espinoza Sr., 20-year-old Juan Sandoval III, 22-year-old Jeremy Sandoval, and 25-year-old Nicky Sandoval.

Brandley said police are on the hunt for two suspects believed to be connected to the shooting.

He didn't immediately say how they were related. He is critical condition but is expected to survive, Brandley said.

Forty-three-year-old Juan Espinoza Jr. was wounded and taken to the hospital for treatment.

"There was a lot of people who witnessed this happen", Brandley said. Authorities would provide no details about the dispute.
