Global internet shutdown likely in next 48 hours

Although the report was quick to mention that the measure "would create minimal problems", the headline "global Internet could crash in next 48 hours", was enough to create some panic among Internet users.

A global internet shutdown is likely to happen in the next two days as the key domain servers will reportedly undergo a routine maintenance, reported Russia Today quoting ICANN.

According to a report in The Indian Express, the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) organisation clarified to the daily that the Root Key Signing Key (KSK) Rollover that is underway now will have very little impact on internet users across the world.

"All arrangements are in place and there will be no internet shutdown in India as is being circulated in the media", Gulshan Rai, National Cyber Security Coordinator, told NDTV.

"It has been about 20 hours since the rollover and based on all information we have, everything is going smoothly".

Trump says Fed ‘making a big mistake’ by being too aggressive
Trump owes more than $300 million to Deutsche Bank AG of debt with interest rates that rise or fall depending on Fed policy. As the economy heats up, pushing prices higher the central bank raises rates to prevent inflation from gaining hold.

ICANN has asked all internet service providers to upgrade their softwares that resolve the website name into digital codes and direct traffic to the right server. The connectivity issues will be solved once the maintenance is done. The move is aimed to protect the domains from cyber-attacks.

'To further clarify, some internet users might be affected if their network operators or Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have not prepared for this change.

This key is responsible for protecting the Domain Name System (DNS), which is like the address book of the internet that matches domain names with IP addresses. It said that users who use at least one resolver that is ready for the rollover will see no change in their use of the Domain Name System (DNS) or internet in general after the rollover.

But here's the catch: you can avoid this if necessary security extensions of the system are enabled.
