Samsung's Galaxy X Will Morph From Tablet to Phone

"For starters, the Galaxy A9 (2018) is speculated to come with a 6.3" Full HD+ AMOLED display that pushes a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels. Underneath, Samsung has added the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset to the smartphone, which works in tandem with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. With the MicroSD card slot, the Galaxy A9 users can further expand up to 512GB. The handset is loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo and Samsung's Experience UX.

Samsung has not revealed anything about the A9 (2018) but had teased about it on social media with an image that shows "4X Fun" written on it along with "Let the fun times begin".

The device comes in Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue and Bubblegum Pink colours and a 3D Glass-curved back. We'd appreciate it more if the last sensor was a monochrome one, although a number of factors would be at play there-space and ISP capabilities being major ones. This makes the device more expensive than previous phones that appeared in the A line. The ultra-wide camera (120°) has an 8MP sensor and f/2.4 lens and finally there's a 5MP depth sensor for bokeh effects. AI Scene Recognition is baked in to identify the subject and adjust settings accordingly for the best photo. But that's only because we don't expect to see the Samsung A9 (2018) released in the U.S.

There's a rear fingerprint scanner too, plus a headphone jack and USB-C port on the base of the A9.

It wouldn't be a phone launch without a headline-grabbing feature, and despite the new Samsung Galaxy A9 sitting in the middle of Samsung's formidable phone range - "premium midrange" is the preferred description - it still gets an eye-catching new spec.

Space crew survives plunge to Earth after Russian rocket fails
Popular Mechanics reports that Thursday's launch is the fourth time that a ballistic re-entry has occurred in the Soyuz program. The two crew members, astronaut Nick Hague and cosmonaut Aleksey Ovchinin, made it back to the surface safe and sound .

Moving on from the camera department, the Samsung Galaxy A9 comes with an unknown octa-core processor that's clocked at 2.2 GHz.

Until March 2018 when Huawei launched the P20 Pro, we had no idea we needed three cameras on the back of a phone - and the jury is still out on that one. For reference, the Galaxy A9 will be priced at £549 ($724 USD) when it launches in the UK.

Lastly, the Galaxy A9 packs a 3,800mAh battery with support for fast charging.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) is a dual SIM (GSM) smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM.
