Miguel Sano of Minnesota Twins arrested after alleged police incident

Miguel Sanó was reportedly involved in a traffic accident in the Dominican Republic. More

Gillandeux, who suffered fractures to both the tibia and fibula of his left leg, was taken to the hospital by Sano, according to Duran, who added that the police officer and Sano know each other and attended school together. After the conversation, Sano began to back up his pickup truck without realizing that the police officer had not moved his motorcycle from behind him.

- A newspaper in the Dominican Republic is reporting Minnesota Twins third baseman was detained after allegedly hit a police officer with his vehicle during a traffic stop in the Dominican Republic early Sunday morning. He was released from custody on Sunday, with a promise he'd return to meet authorities Monday morning. The Twins infielder wasn't charged with a crime because he didn't leave the scene of the accident, Duran said.

Police did question Sano after the accident because his vehicle did not have a license plate and he did not have a driver's license on him.

A bad moment in Minnesota Twins history came when they chose to release an injury-prone slugger named David Ortiz in December of 2002.

Meet The 2019 Nominees For The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
They will then be tallied as a "fan's ballot" and will be factored in with the other ballots to decide the 2019 class. The annual U.S. celebration of all things rock will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on 29 March 2019.

A Twins spokesman says the ballclub is aware of the situation involving Sano and is still gathering facts.

Sano is said to have hit a police offer after driving through a checkpoint outside a nightclub.

On the baseball side of things, offseason leg surgery and then an April hamstring injury led to an out-of-shape Sano's 2018 season being delayed and resulted in (a) the worst year of his big league career; and (b) an extended minor league assignment.

Sano, a native of San Pedro de Macoris, returned to the Dominican after Minnesota's season ended last week, according to the Star Tribune.
