Bus accident in Kenya claims at least 50 lives

President Uhuru Kenyatta, DP William Ruto and opposition chief Raila Odinga have led the nation in mourning the loss of lives after the grisly road accident that occurred at Fort Ternan area on the Kisumu - Muhoroni highway.

"I would like to remind drivers to always exercise caution to avoid such catastrophic incidents".

Official statistics show that around 3,000 people die annually in road accidents in Kenya, but the World Health Organization estimates the figure could be as high as 12,000.

In 2016, several vehicles were engulfed in flames in a crash involving an oil tanker in Naivasha, Kenya, which killed dozens of people.
