Aretha Franklin, the 'Queen of Soul,' has died at 76

Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul has died aged 76. She also was the first woman inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Franklin also received global acclaim for her memorable 2006 Thanksgiving Day performance before the Lions played the Minnesota Vikings.

In recent years she was doted for showing up when called upon, either at ceremonies celebrating the past, or at Barack Obama's 2009 inauguration where she famously wore a metric ton of fabric on her head.

Aretha Franklin was the special child of a remarkable family.

"She will forever be the Queen of Soul and so much more to all who knew her personally and through her music", the statement, which also included Hillary Clinton, said. "I'm just so sad that we had to lose her", Black said. In 1956, she released her first album Songs of Faith, recorded at her father's church, New Bethel Baptist Church.

LG and Sprint Scramble to Offer 5G Phone
Sprint has promised 5G in nine cities during the first half of 2019, and its mid-band spectrum is designed for citywide coverage. According to the mobile network company, the 5G rollout will bring faster and more reliable internet speeds to its customers.

Aretha made her last ever performance last November in NY, at an Elton John Aids Foundation gala. In 2010, she was forced to cancel to scheduled performances due to fractured ribs and abdominal pain. A then-22-year-old Eric Clapton played on her stunning 1967 track, "Good to Me As I Am to You," while a young Duane Allman famously lent his talents to a number of Franklin recordings in the late Sixties.

The Queen of Soul remained a prominent face - and voice - for African American civil rights throughout her life. She begins her solo with "The moment I wake up/Before I put on my makeup/I say a little" before backup singers chime in with "prayer for you". "By 1968, Franklin was an established soul chart-topper with hits like "Respect", "Chain of Fools" and "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman".

She would sing at King's funeral a decade later.

We here at Clevver also want to send our honest condolences to Aretha's Franklin, and thank the Queen of Soul for giving us some of the most powerful anthems of our lives.

"'Amazing Grace' is more a great Aretha Franklin album than a great gospel album", wrote Jon Landau at the time. "She will be missed but the memory of her greatness as a musician and a fine human being will live with us forever".
