Idris Elba Posts Cryptic References to Bond Amid Casting Rumors

It was believed that the actor was one of the frontrunners for the role after Daniel Craig's term as the super British spy, James Bond, ends and the actor's recent tweet has only fuelled the speculations further.

Idris Elba took to Twitter Sunday to weigh in on revived rumors that he could be the next actor to play secret agent James Bond.

Elba, 45, made his name in gritty USA television drugs drama "The Wire" and won a Golden Globe for his role as a murder detective in "Luther", before moving to the big screen.

Rumours about Elba being next in line for the role after Daniel Craig holsters his gun and leaves the franchise for good next year have been swirling since 2014. Fuqua said he spoke to the Bond film producer Barbara Broccoli and told her that it was time for an actor of color to play the role.

"Idris has that", was the quote that The Daily Star claimed Fuqua made, and they also stated that Broccoli was responsive to the idea.

USA tariffs hike adds to Turkey's economic problems
The currency drop is particularly painful for Turkey because the country finances a lot of its economic growth with foreign money. Friday saw the lira's value falling over 15 percent, bringing the decline to over 40 percent since the beginning of the year.

A few hours later, however, the 45-year-old poked further fun at the mounting speculation by tweeting the title of a very famous hip hop track, apparently dampening down expectations.

"When Sean Connery stepped into the scene he was a rough old dude".

Fuqua allegedly said the move "will happen eventually" and Elba is reportedly the first choice to take on the role.

"Running around in cars and ladies and martinis, who wants to do that?"
