The Crown skyrocketed into popularity after the first season hit Netflix in November of 2016, and only became more popular into the show's second season.

Netflix on Sunday released the first image of Olivia Colman as the long-reigning monarch in the popular series.

There she is, in all her royal highness. The third season focuses on Queen Elizabeth II in middle age, which is why Colman is replacing Foy. Each season of the show is meant to highlight approximately ten years.

While it has yet to be confirmed, fans could be stuck waiting for The Crown season three until 2019. 'You can't ask someone to act middle-aged. She will star alongside Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret and Ben Daniels as Antony Armstrong-Jones. "Someone has to bring their own fatigue to it". 'The feelings we all have as 50-year-olds are different than the feelings we all have as 30-year-olds'. The series is set to cover the period of 1964-1970s in its third outing. Camilla Parker Bowles, the current wife of Prince Charles, the Queen's eldest son, is expected to appear in the upcoming season. "I'm basically going to re-watch every episode and copy her". Perhaps a sack of moldy potatoes?

The photo, uploaded to the series' official Twitter account, features Her Majesty sitting down for a cup of tea, wearing a slightly concerned look on her face and her signature pearls around her neck.
