Woman Unknowingly Drives 'Stolen' Car for 2 Weeks

"For the next two weeks, the woman drove around and used the black auto for her regular everyday activities", seemingly oblivious to the fact that the vehicle she was driving was not the same one that she had rented, the police said.

Not realizing it was a Nissan Infiniti instead of the Sentra, she drove off in the wrong vehicle.

What started out as a routine auto rental turned into a lesson about the importance of not leaving electronic key fobs in unoccupied vehicles, according to police in Cornwall, Ont.

Keyless cars can be operated as long as the key fob is located inside the auto, which was the case in this circumstance. Soon after, a local man exited the store and began wandering about the parking lot in an increasing state of agitation, before concluding that his black Nissan Infiniti had been stolen, and calling police to report the theft.

In the end, both the auto rental company and the Infiniti owner retrieved their vehicles and there was a happy ending to the story.

That's when the manager connected the dots and realized the auto she had returned belonged to an older gentleman who, 2 weeks earlier, had come in to rent a vehicle after his had been stolen - you guessed it - from the Walmart parking lot. Yes, the cops were involved, but luckily, they chose not to arrest or press charges against the woman. "The manager observed the vehicle and asked the woman where she got it", police added.

Wimbledon | Goerges sets up Wimbledon semi-final date with Serena
The American star faces German 13th seed Julia Goerges on Thursday hoping to book a 10th final appearance at the All England Club. Despite this, and how it looked from the outside, Williams claimed she was never in any doubt that she would emerge victorious.

After 2 weeks, she came back to Enterprise return the vehicle, and she made sure she complained to the manager about giving her a dirty, obviously used auto.

This allowed the woman to drive off, completely unaware that it wasn't her rental.

Back-tracking through her trips, he asked her to drive with him to the Wal-Mart-where her actual-rental black Nissan Sentra still Saturday Putting together the pieces in his head and remembering his other distraught-over-a-recently-stolen-Infiniti customer, the manager made a call to police. The keys the woman had returned belonged to an Infiniti vehicle, not the Nissan she had rented. After contacting the police, it was confirmed that the Infiniti had indeed been listed as stolen.

The hilarious post has received hundreds of likes, shares and comments from bemused Facebook users, with one posting: "That happened to me once". Unfortunately, instead of her vehicle, she had gotten into another black auto.

Police described the incident as a "happy ending to a complicated vehicle rental" and warned drivers over electronic key fobs. "Talk about a comedy of errors".
