UK's new Brexit strategy won't inhibit trade deals: minister

British government plunged into fresh chaos as Brexit minister resigns

The long-serving Conservative MP was among the new intake when Tony Blair's new Labour swept to power in 1997.

Ambassador Johnson said he would facilitate a meeting between Trump and Boris Johnson, who is seen as a potential challenger to May, telling BBC radio: "If the president wants to do that and he feels it's appropriate, he'll make that decision".

Carolyn Fairbairn, director-general of the CBI, said there had been "real rays of light" in the Cabinet agreement on Friday and described the resignation as a "blow".

Davis added that the proposal May supports "will leave us in at best a weak negotiating position, and possibly an inescapable one". She also told her party that "to lead is to decide".

"Everybody who wants to be the prime minister wants Theresa May to guide that process through until March so that (they) could take over and say what s passed is passed. You know, Boris Johnson has been a friend of the president, was a friend during the election of the president, so I think he has a warm and close relationship with him".

"I think perhaps we are now entering into that space", he said.

Why was Davis important to Theresa May?

The Tory MP suggested the European Union would hold more sway and would be tempted to introduce measures that would be harmful to the UK. He has been noted by former colleagues for his "tough, resilient" approach.

Britain and the European Union hope to reach broad agreement by October so the national parliaments of the remaining countries can ratify a deal before Britain leaves. But no prime minister this badly wounded can limp along forever.

Amendments tabled to the customs bill threaten to undermine Theresa May's plan for future UK-EU relations.

They survived on snacks they brought with them and by drinking water running down cave walls, authorities said. The boys' families can visit them wearing protective gowns and masks, it added.

Liam Fox said the agreement, which sparked the resignations of Boris Johnson and David Davis, was created to be a "credible offer" to Brussels to allow negotiations to make progress. But as the weekend grew older, dissenting voices from the Tory backbenches grew louder.

Brussels has warned that Theresa May's Brexit proposals must be workable in order to avoid a no deal scenario as the Government reveals details of its controversial European Union withdrawal plans.

Today's data is forecast to show inflationary pressures continued to build in the USA last month, with inflation expected to have climbed from 2.8 per cent to 2.9 per cent during the month of June.

Johnson sent an incendiary resignation letter on Monday accusing May of killing "the Brexit dream" and flying "white flags" of surrender in negotiations with the European Union.

Is Davis the first of many?

The chain of resignations in the United Kingdom cabinet, which lost three of its ministers in 24 hours clearly signals only one thing - the unfolding political crisis in London, according to the diplomat."Things are covered with fog on Downing Street, while the outlines of the government crisis are peeking through it".

Mrs May must be expecting others to go with Davis, and will be particularly keen to know what the likes of Mr Johnson and fellow Brexiteer Andrea Leadsom intend to do now.

Brexit minister Steve Baker also left the Government, while Chris Green quit his position as an unpaid parliamentary aide at the Department for Transport.

With Trump on the way, the Prime Minister certainly has something to take her mind off the potential battle for Number 10.

The departures, hailed by eurosceptic MPs in the ruling Conservative party, triggered speculation that May could face an imminent leadership contest.
