Emergency responders assist a passenger injured in a crash of a Taquan Air plane in mountainous terrain on Prince of Wales Island Tuesday, July 10, 2018, in Ketchikan, Alaska.

A plane carrying almost a dozen people has crashed on a mountain southwest of Ketchikan Tuesday morning, with U.S. Coast Guard crews responding to the area.

Authorities said the pilot radioed shortly before 9:00 a.m., and the Coast Guard dispatched two helicopter crews to the area, around 65 kilometers (40 miles) southwest of Ketchikan.

The crash took place at an altitude of 2,000 feet and visibility during the rescue was one-quarter of a mile. "Thankfully, it was a good outcome".

But even though England are out, they've still had an unbelievable tournament. 'That is another reason why we are a miracle. This shows character and is what makes me proud. "We played better than we did against Argentina".

Coast Guard commander and Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator Mike Kahle praised the pilot, who had kept the 10 passengers safe while landing the aircraft in the uneven terrain.

Charly Hengen, public information officer for USCG, said that the pilot said there were no fatalities at the time the crash was called in, but that several injuries were reported. 'It is imperative we understand the factors surrounding this incident to prevent similar ones, ' the company said in a statement.

He says the Coast Guard, an area search and rescue team and a trooper were responding.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) says the plane that crashed is a float equipped de Havilland Otter like this one.

Tim DeSpain, a spokesman for the Alaska State Troopers, says the pilot reported there were injuries but no deaths when the plane went down Tuesday.
