Kim Kardashian West Says Clemency For Alice Johnson 'Fulfilled My Heart'

Put in her time Alice had already served more than 20 years in prison on drug conspiracy and money laundering charges

On Wednesday, the former inmate wrapped the reality TV star in a warm embrace, as she met for the first time the woman who helped win her freedom.

"'You can go home now".

Kardashian West, sitting next to Johnson, told Hoda Kotb that the first Trump family member she contacted about Johnson's case was Ivanka Trump, the president's daughter.

Less than a year ago, Alice Johnson, a 63-year-old grandmother serving life in prison for a nonviolent drug offense, had no clue who Kim Kardashian was.

In recent weeks, Kardashian West attended an Oval Office meeting with Trump to discuss the case, and then, just last week, he signed Johnson's clemency papers, a decision that resulted from the culmination of months of behind-the-scenes legal work. I was dancing. I was jumping. Literally before you got here, Alice was wringing her hands and we were talking about...

After learning of Johnson's commutation on June 6, Kardashian tweeted: "Best news ever!" "I don't have that feeling that others have about meeting her as 'Celebrity Kim, ' but I'm meeting a friend who fought for me".

Italy, France tensions spiral over rejected migrant ship
Meanwhile, an Italian coast guard ship with more than 900 migrants on board has docked this morning in the Sicilian port of Catania.

She said a simple thank you to Kardashian West isn't enough. Are you ready to go home?' When she said that, I went into full fledge Pentecostal holy dance!

Kardashian West told the programme: "I mean, I think to some people it might seem like, "okay, Kim made a phone call to the president, showed up".

The socialite revealed she broke the ice with Trump by saying, "I'm here because I want to know why you kicked Khloe off 'The Apprentice, '" referring to her sister Khloe Kardashian who was on the president's former reality show in 2009.

When asked about what's next for the both of them, Johnson and Kardashian West both expressed their intention of working to help more people trapped in the criminal justice system. "This has fulfilled my heart and since I feel so fulfilled, why would I stop that?"

'It was wonderful. I'm so glad that she was the one who was able to deliver the news to me. "Love you, Alice!" Johnson was sent to prison in 1996, 19 years before Snapchat introduced the filter options. "I started reading everything that I could about her and everyone was amazed and I was amazed too".
