Trump Responds To Robert De Niro, Calls Him 'Punch-Drunk'

President Trump responded Tuesday to Robert De Niro's expletive-laden rant at Sunday's Tony Awards.

"I guess (De Niro) doesn't realise the economy is the best it's ever been with employment being at an all time high, and many companies pouring back into our country", the president said.

Rather than dwell on the momentous occasion as North Korea and the US finally sat down and pursued a diplomatic means to avert the possibility of World War III, President Trump has taken a few minutes out of his busy schedule to have a pop at an actor that appeared in The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle.

He said he would move to Italy if Mr Trump was elected, and the town where his great-grandparents lived offered him "refuge" when this happened.

De Niro continued the streak for a third month in a row when he said in a speech in LA: 'A college education is important, but education without humanity is ignorance. He made it through University of Pennsylvania, so he was exposed to a quality education, but he's still an idiot'.

And, after the f-bombs at the Tonys on Sunday night, it looks like De Niro is staying true to his word about speaking out.

Trump, who has just left Singapore after a historic meeting with the North Korean leader, was retaliating after De Niro spent the past few days publicly denouncing Trump. On Tuesday, De Niro apologized for "the idiotic behavior of my president" in a speech at the groundbreaking of a restaurant in Toronto, CNN reported. And I apologize to [Canadian Prime Minister] Justin Trudeau and the other people at the G7.
