We have received official word from BlackBerry Mobile that the KEY2 will be coming to South Africa, but as yet we have not exact dates or pricing.

The company has reportedly increased the keyboard length by 20 percent without sacrificing accuracy and comfort. There's also a new button called the Speed Key, which acts as a shortcut button to quickly switch between apps.

BlackBerry KEY2 price starts at $649 (Rs. 43,520 approx.) in the United States and €649 (Rs. 51,200 approx.) in Europe.

The front of the display features the keyboard (which houses a fingerprint sensor) as well as a 4.5-inch 1620 x 1080 display.

- The KEY2 uses the same display panel as a year ago down to the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection up-top. The smartphone comes with two internal storage options 64GB and 128GB.

The new offering, revealed in NY, runs Android 8.1 Oreo and is the first BlackBerry to feature a dual-rear camera - now considered standard on even mid-range phones. BlackBerry is using the secondary rear shooter as a telephoto zoom, similar to the iPhone X, and enabling portrait mode shots too.

The rear camera set-up consists of two 12MP lenses, coupled with a 8MP front-facing camera. Pieces of information pertaining to the device as well as preview photos of it have been leaking to the internet in the past few weeks, and here are the details so far.

Tomorrow on June 7, BlackBerry Mobile will take the stage in NY to unveil its latest effort the BlackBerry KEY2.

Chinese electronics firm TCL has launched its latest high-end BlackBerry device under licence from Canada's BlackBerry Ltd, featuring unique security and privacy features - and BlackBerry's signature hardware keyboard. There are dual 12MP cameras out back that are complimented by a Dual Tone LED dash.

In the camera department, we see that the Key2 has a dual-camera setup which is an improvement over the single camera in the KeyONE.

TCL and BlackBerry executive Alain Lejeune said the Key2 offered something different to the all-screen smartphones now dominating the market.

It also includes an in-keyboard fingerprint reader. There's a microSD card slot, which can support up to 2TB additional storage.

As with other recent BlackBerry devices, the Key2 comes with exclusive access to DTEK. Moreover, it has a new dedicated "Speed key" that lets you launch apps by pressing it and the letter assigned to the app. A 3500mAh battery powers the device from within along with Quick Charge 3.0.

In terms of connectivity, the BlackBerry Key2 will support Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C, USB OTG, DP through Type-C port, FM radio, NFC, and 4G VoLTE.
