'Missing' Melania Trump breaks silence after 20 day-absence

'Missing' Melania Trump breaks silence after 20 day-absence

"She's looking at us, right there", the president said. After being out of the public view for 20 days - during which she underwent a medical procedure to treat what was referred to as a benign kidney condition - Trump on Wednesday sought to tamp down theories that have been circulating about her absence. On May 16, the President visited the first lady after she had a minor kidney surgery and was hospitalized for five days.

Media outlets like CNN and Newsweek are fueling that speculation with reports about her absence from the public eye. "She's been involved in several internal meetings with staff all last week, and that continues this week".

"This is nothing new", Grisham said.

However, that unnamed source added that Mrs Trump has spent longer out of the public eye before, including during the transition period she spent in NY with her son Barron before finally moving to the White House last summer.

Some apparently believe that there is really something wrong with Melania, following reports in the U.S. media, which Trump infrequently refers to as the "fake news media".

But those rumors were put to rest Wednesday, as the first lady was spotted in the White House. Soon, users on Twitter were speculating that she may have undergone a more complicated cosmetic surgery under the guise of an emergency. When reporters turned to look, there was no one on the other side.

Sears to close another 100 stores as sales plunge
Earlier this year , the company shuttered locations in Wilmington and Asheville as well as five other stores in the state. But, Sears Holdings again has announced it will close more stores - this time it will close 63 Sears and Kmart stores.

Asked about the first lady's health before he boarded the presidential helicopter on the South Lawn, Trump pointed to the second floor of the White House and said: "She's doing great".

The fact that the first lady has barely been seen throughout the month of May has been a hot topic of conversation on social media.

Wild theories have circulated online, including that Mrs Trump has moved back to NY with their son, Barron, or that she is co-operating with special counsel Robert Mueller.

"She's doing really well", communications director Stephanie Grisham tells ABC News in a statement.

"She was hospitalised for nearly a week and is now home and recovering".

On May 7, Trump launched her "Be Best" campaign, which aims to address societal issues children face today.
