Elon Musk brings technology charm offensive to Los Angeles tunnel plan

An invitation to the Elon Musk talk was issued by The Boring Company with tickets available through Eventbrite, and in the invitation it was once again reiterated just how soul-destroying Los Angeles traffic can be, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The full-fledged project would include a tunnel along Los Angeles' notoriously busy 405 Freeway where, Musk said, traffic varied between the seventh and the eighth circles of hell.

It's all part of The Boring Company's broader effort to develop a system of tunnels that could create the infrastructure needed for alternative mass transit.

Elon Musk wants to use the biggest rocket SpaceX has ever built to transport humans anywhere on Earth in under an hour. Musk said that rides on the subway-like rail service dubbed "Loop" would cost one dollar.

It is very possible that Elon Musk might integrate The Boring Company with SpaceX to provide astonishingly fast transportation around the world.

The biggest challenge, however, is digging the tunnel network.

Mr Musk, the Silicon Valley tycoon who founded Tesla, the electric auto company, said he would offer free trips through the first two research tunnels he completes to get public feedback before proceeding with a larger system.

WHO Says Congo Faces 'Very High' Risk From Ebola Outbreak
Peter Salama, the World Health Organization's deputy director-general of emergency preparedness and response, warned on Thursday. Total potential cases of Ebola are 45 thus and till date, this latest outbreak has killed 25 individuals.

The bold claim follows a partnership between LA Metro and The Boring Company to build a tunnel network in the city.

Joining him on stage was Steve Davis, a top executive at Musk's aptly named underground transit venture, the Boring Company.

"And if you could have hundreds of tunnels and small stations throughout the fabric of the city without even the city appearing different, you could solve the transport problem", Musk said.

The concept is to pack no less than 100 passengers per flight on a brilliant highly effective rocket that Musk has dubbed the BFR - which is about two-and-a-half occasions the dimensions of the Falcon Heavy rocket that put a Tesla into area in February (by chance overshooting the orbit of Mars).

Fares for Loop could cost as little as $1 per person, Musk suggested, though the actual cost will likely depend on a number of factors, and require input from multiple local and regional agencies.

One test tunnel has already been excavated near SpaceX headquarters in Hawthorne, Calif. "You won't hear us".
