Peru's Paolo Guerrero confirmed in FIFA World Cup 2018

Guerrero

This led to the World Anti-Doping Agency launching an appeal to CAS to have Guerrero's initial one-year ban increased by a further year.

The Peruvian Football Federation have officially confirmed that captain Paolo Guerrero has been chosen in the Peru national football team's FIFA World Cup 2018 squad following the expiration of a narcotics ban.

The court said on Monday the ban had been extended six months and will be lifted in January, meaning the 34-year-old Flamengo man will miss the rest of this season, the World Cup and the first half of next season.

CAS released a stament after the ruling, recognising that FIFA's six month ban didn't fit within its guidelines.

"FIFPro is calling for an urgent meeting with FIFA after football player Paolo Guerrero was suspended for 14 months for accidentally ingesting a banned substance, preventing him from representing Peru at the World Cup", a statement from FIFPro read.

FPF has to still wait for the CAS verdict, which has been scheduled on May 16, and that decision will confirm Guerrero's participation in the upcoming World Cup.

Trump has been criticized for announcing plans to relocate the embassy and for formally recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Hagee caused John McCain headaches during his 2008 presidential campaign when Hagee's anti-LGBTQ rhetoric became widely known.

Peru is in Group C with Australia, Denmark and France.

But less than a week after he attended a CAS hearing in a bid to completely annul a ban for testing positive for traces of cocaine, CAS increased his sentence for falling foul of "an anti-doping rule violation (presence of Benzoylecgonine metabolites)".

His lawyers argued Guerrero accidently consumed the stimulant by drinking contaminated tea and the player has protested innocence throughout the episode.

The striker, also Peru's highest-ever scorer, returned to play for Flamengo earlier this month and scored his first goal since the suspension on Sunday.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be the fifth World Cup appearance for Peru.
