Cpl. Middlebrook to be honored in Washington DC

Gov. Scott Walker

I see firsthand how the men and women of law enforcement fulfill their sworn duty to uphold justice every day. He called on his department's recruits to "remember those who have fallen, and honor them by serving your community well". This code facilitates rapid dissemination of critical information to law enforcement agencies and the public about violent offenders who have killed, seriously injured, or who pose an imminent and credible threat to law enforcement officers. Several Lafayette Police Officers and members of the department's color guard are in Washington, D.C.to take part in the national memorial. I feel fortunate to work with such a wonderful group of professionals.

After the service at the fire memorial, there was a short parade to the police memorial on Ezzard Charles Drive, across from District One headquarters.

"National Police Week is an opportunity for communities across the country to recognize the incredible bravery and sacrifice of those who put themselves in harm's way to protect others", said King County Sheriff Mitzi Johanknecht. Chief Jeff Bunn and the State Center Police Department, along with Chief Mike Ball and the Melbourne Police Department, are all providing valuable public safety services in their communities.

A procession of police officers will walk down Memorial Drive beginning at 7 p.m.

Warm and humid this Mother's Day
A cold front moving through Central Pennsylvania Thursday afternoon will likely trigger strong to severe thunderstorms. Ryan McPike, a KMTV meteorologist, said today's chance for rain was considered slight.

559 of those officers are from North Carolina. The annual observance honors law enforcement personnel who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty.

He was responding to a domestic dispute last May. He pointed out that the 129 officers to died on the job in 2017 represented the second-smallest figure since 1959.

Law enforcement is a resilient profession and it needs to be. This year, over 300 more names will be added to the growing list that now includes officers and agents who responded to the 9/11 plane crash sites and were later felled due to their exposure to deadly toxins at the sites.
