Zarif embarks on journey to save nuclear deal by first visiting China

The Government insisted it will not allow foreign judges to be part of a domestic process to investigate incidents related to the war

Iran's Foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Beijing today on the first leg of a whirlwind diplomatic tour planned to rescue the nuclear deal left on the brink of collapse after the USA pulled out.

"For the first time, Iran has the chance to show the world they are not the rogue nation they are always presented as, that they negotiated in good faith and keep to their commitments", said Karim Emile Bitar of the Institute for worldwide and Strategic Studies in Paris.

Add that trump intends to immediately impose sanctions against any foreign companies that will do business with Iran.

Iran has said it would remain in the JCPOA for now, pending negotiations with the other signatories in the coming weeks before making a final decision.

The Iranian nuclear deal is a result of multilateral efforts contributing to the protection of the worldwide non-proliferation regime, and supporting peace and stability in the Middle East, Wang added.

"We hope that with this visit to China and other countries we will be able to construct a clear future design for the comprehensive agreement", Zarif said.

On this weekend's broadcast of "Fox News Sunday", Secretary of State Mike Pompeo describe the nuclear deal with Iran as something that allowed the rogue nation to "act with impunity".

Hamas Chief Visits Cairo a Day Before US Relocates Embassy to Jerusalem
Israel captured east Jerusalem in the 1967 Mideast war and annexed it in a move not recognized internationally. Since late March, 42 Palestinians have been killed in weekly clashes with Israel along the Gaza border.

Zarif told Wang that maintaining the nuclear deal will serve Iran's interest.

Israel and its allies have blamed the Iranian Revolutionary Guards for initiating Thursday's exchange by launching missiles into the occupied Golan Heights.

European signatories have undertaken a flurry of diplomatic activity to try to protect trade deals worth billions.

Trump directed his administration to "immediately begin the process of re-imposing sanctions" related to the deal, a White House statement said. "We believe that today China is on our side", he said. This is while the UN's atomic watchdog, the IAEA, have in 10 periodical reports since the JCPOA's implementation in January 2016 testified to Iran's abidance by the deal.

Ayatollah Ali Jannati, the ultra-conservative head of the Assembly of Experts, said Mr Rouhani should "present his apologies to the Iranian people for the damage caused".

Iran says it is ready to restart its nuclear program on an "industrial scale" in the wake of the decision by US President Donald Trump to abandon the deal that curbs the country's nuclear ambitions.
