Israel hits dozens of 'Iranian' targets in Syria after rocket fire

Israeli war planes were targeting Syrian territories with rockets early on Thursday for the second time in the week.

Israeli officials have been predicting an Iranian "attack" against them in retaliation for the various Israeli strikes in recent weeks.

The IDF made it a point to say that the attack last night was done by Iranian Al Quds forces, and not by proxies. "This event is not over". According to the statement, a senior military source in Syria, who quoted the official government media, we are talking about the strike, the Israeli air force's military to strengthen the South of Damascus.

Israel, which nearly never confirms or denies airstrikes in Syria, did not comment on Tuesday's attack.

The Israelis fear that Iran and its Lebanese ally Hezbollah are turning Syria into a new front against them.

Israel then carried out what it called "large-scale" raids on Syrian air defence systems and Iranian targets, which reportedly included T-4.

An official with the Iran-led regional alliance supporting Syrian President Bashar Assad said the strike targeted a Syrian army position but killed a Syrian man and his wife who happened to be passing by in their vehicle.

Who's who in the Cannes film festival jury
After years of spotless red carpets, Cannes Film Festival 2018 opens with a rather political affair on Tuesday. But Blanchett said the increased awareness of women's issues would have "no direct impact" on who wins.

There was no immediate comment from Israel, which nearly never confirms or denies airstrikes in Syria.

Syrian air defences that fired dozens of times on Israeli forces were also targeted, he said.

Faced with these dangers, Israel will continue to defend itself, confident in America's support and freed from the specter of a bad deal.

The rocket fire came after Israel's military said Iranian forces in Syria had shelled an Israeli outpost near the border. A series of strikes over the last few months — all blamed on Israel — have struck Iranian assets in Syria and killed Iranian forces there. President Donald Trump's announcement Tuesday that the US would withdraw from the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran has triggered uncertainty and threatened to spark more unrest in the Middle East.

He said they targeted intelligence, logistics, storage and vehicles as well as the origin of the rockets.

In February, Israel shot down what it said was an armed Iranian drone that entered Israeli airspace.
