Miami, Mark Richt Agree to Contract Extension Through 2023

On Thursday, the school announced it has extended the contract of Mark Richt through the 2023 season. "We look forward to continued success under his watch, both on and off the field, for many years to come".

Additionally, though Miami lost three straight to end the campaign, it peaked at No. 2 in the AP poll.

The former Georgia coach originally signed a six-year deal for roughly $4 million a year in December 2015.

US Fed keeps interest rates unchanged as market expects
The survey-based consumer price index, a more widely watched inflation gauge, was up in April by 2.4% for the previous 12 months. United States jobs data on Friday should give further indications of the strength of the economy and inflationary pressures.

Late last week, reports surfaced that Miami was working on a new contract for Mark Richt. That was Miami's first 10-win season since 2003. Since Howard Schnellenberger won UM's first national title in 1983, the longest coaching stint has been six years, achieved by Dennis Erickson (1989-94), Butch Davis (1995-2000) and Larry Coker (2001-2006).

According to a report from Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports, Miami and Richt have agreed to terms on a contract extension that runs through 2023. In two seasons in South Florida, he has led them to a 19-7 record and an ACC Coastal division championship in 2017. Richt was the ACC's coach of the year and won the Walter Camp national coach of the year award.

In the school's press release, Richt thanked the administration, staff and players - adding he was excited about the direction of where the program is headed. "It's a blessing to live and work in paradise". Could that be a coincidence, or is Miami sending a message of support for Richt following Georgia's epic 2017 season?
