Syria chemical attack 'staged' with help of foreign secret service: Russian Federation

During the recent UN Security Council meeting on Syria, Ambassador Nebenzia was highly critical of US-led military actions in different locations across the globe.

The US and its allies believe the Syrian regime was behind the attack, but Russian Federation has long insisted it was staged by rebels in an attempt to provoke further Western intervention.

On Monday, Fox News' Tucker Carlson said we have "no real idea what happened" in Syria and claimed that people are simply "making it up" when they attribute responsibility for the chemical attacks to Assad. Lavrov noted that Russian and USA militaries have a hotline to prevent incidents, adding that it's not clear if it would be sufficient amid mounting tensions.

She said "the United States estimates that (President Bashar) Assad has used chemical weapons in the Syrian war at least 50 times".

As fears of a Russia-West military confrontation mount, Mr Macron expressed his "deep concerns" over the situation in Syria in a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

But the officials said that the extent of Russia's successful penetration of Western computer networks was not fully clear, nor was the Kremlin's ultimate intent. "We hope there will be no point of no return".

The result has been an unprecedented wave of retaliations and tit-for-tat actions.

To avoid bigger conflict they tried not to hit Russian troops stationed in Syria shared Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Joseph Dunford. His company lost half its value in a day after the sanctions were announced.

The WHO cautioned that it has no formal role in forensic inquiries into the use of chemical weapons.

"What kind of cooperation can there be?"

It was the two countries' first such joint alert.

Witnesses and Western governments say helicopters dropped chemical bombs that killed many children and women hiding in cellars from bombardment.

Reacting to the possibility of military action by the United States, Britain, and France, Vassily Nebenzia, Moscow's UN ambassador, said that the current situation was "very unsafe". "Our enemies will work to create confusion and distrust among Americans here at home".

Most traffic within a company or between organizations traverses them. Instead, Russia is attempting to create such zones with Turkey and Iran.

Russian Federation says West only interested in overthrowing Assad
The ministry additionally pointed to previous alleged use of chemicals by the rebels in fighting with Syrian government troops. US allies have offered strong words of support for Washington but no clear military plans have yet emerged.

"Eventually, he got exasperated", said a source familiar with the internal debate at the White house.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres opened the Security Council meeting without referring to either Russian Federation or the USA, but stressed his deep concern that the growing tensions could spiral into broad conflict.

"The president has a dilemma", said this official. "Our warnings have been left unheard", the statement said.

In the meantime, though, routine diplomacy has given way to pettiness.

Ambassador Anatoly Antonov's statement promised that tonight's bombardment would not go unaswered.

Trump, previously reluctant to criticise Putin directly even as others in his administration have done so, has dropped any such restraint.

Putin may pretend that his warnings had worked and reduced the U.S. strike on Syria to merely a symbolic demonstration of old Tomahawk missiles with an even more symbolic show of allied solidarity.

Valery Solovei, a political scientist at the Moscow State Institute for International Relations, which trains Russia's diplomats, said "I think, yes, this is the end".

"America does not seek an indefinite presence in Syria", he said.

The Russian propaganda machine is hard at work in the aftermath of the airstrikes on Syria, pushing disinformation about the chemical attacks and accusing the US of wanting to start another world war.

John Hannah, senior counselor at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, who has worked with Bolton in the past, said Bolton was opposed to "empty symbolic gestures that make us feel good but have no strategic effects". The Russian and USA militaries both quickly sought to defuse the situation by assuring each other that the mercenaries' attack wasn't authorised by Moscow.

Over the past week, pro-Kremlin officials, independent analysts and the state-allied news media here all described the situation in Syria as a uniquely unsafe moment.

The deputy Russian finance minister claimed on Monday that the country and its G20 and BRICS allies with emerging economies were discussing the dominance of the USA dollar as a reserve currency, according to Russian state news agency RIA.

Trump repeatedly accused China of currency manipulation during his campaign for president and included Russian Federation in his claim in his tweet. Punitive gestures like Russia's ban on USA wine, spirits and tobacco can hardly be taken seriously; but the ban on imports of medicinal drugs could hit some groups of Russian patients quite painfully (Kommersant, April 14). "No red lines were crossed".
