# 039, President Trump &;s Re Election Effort raised $10 million Thus Much

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump speaks during a rally at the SNHU Arena in Manchester New Hampshire on Nov. 7 2016

More than one-fifth of the $3.9 million that President Donald Trump's 2020 re-election campaign has spent this year has gone to legal fees, the campaign's latest quarterly Federal Election Commission filing shows.

Using campaign funds to pay for the president's mounting legal fees related to Daniels and the Russian Federation investigation means that the money small-dollar donors are giving to the president's campaign isn't all going toward traditional reelection efforts like ads, campaign staff payroll, and fundraising.

The campaign has spent around $835,000 in legal fees in the first few months of 2018.

Two others firms - Harding LLP and Larocca, Hornik, Rosen, Greenberg & Blaha, which are involved in the legal fight with Daniels - were paid a combined $280,000. The president and Cohen have filed their own suit against her, threatening to seek millions in damages.

About $840,000 in payments for "legal consulting" were made to eight firms and the Trump Corporation.

In all, Trump's campaign committee and two fundraising committees that jointly raise money with the Republican National Committee - Trump Victory and the Trump Make America Great Again Committee - together raised almost $20.2 million in the first quarter, filings show. All told, the $20.2 million raised by the three committees is up significantly from the $12.5 million raised in the previous quarter.

Alleged Toronto serial killer charged with 8th count of first-degree murder
Investigators said he was identified after they released photographs of the man and appealed to the public for help. Police said they received hundreds of tips, and announced late last week they had made a successful identification.

Trump has opted - unlike presidents before him - to begin actively fundraising in the early part of his first term.

He continues to energize small-dollar donors, FEC filings show. The reports also state that the campaign has spent $125,000 at several Trump businesses, including Trump International Hotel and Trump Tower, and paid former Trump White House aide Johnny McEntee $22,000.

The campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In addition to payments from the campaign, Parscale's business also received $66,647 from the two fundraising committees and another $46,808 in consulting fees from the main super PAC supporting Trump, America First Action.

In a statement on Tuesday, February 27, President Trump announced that the 42-year-old Parscale would begin preparing the groundwork for the 2020 presidential campaign. After McEntee was sacked over security concerns, he was immediately hired by the campaign.
