Crawfordville woman accused of letting toddler smoke meth, marijuana

The accused was identified as 20-year-old Kaitlyn Ecker from Wakulla, a county in Florida, and is facing charges of child abuse.

The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office said authorities had been investigating Ecker since January 12 after someone reported that Ecker allowed her toddler to do drugs.

While being interviewed by detectives, Heinz admitted that she had a history of drug use, including heroin and opioid pills, having been at the Methadone Clinic in 2013, stopping sometime around previous year. A search in January turned up pipes that tested positive for marijuana and meth residue, along with other drug paraphernalia and a bag of marijuana found among children's toys.

KRTV reported that Autumn Sienna Heinz, 30, faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child, criminal possession of unsafe drugs and criminal mischief.

That very same day, police took a blood and hair sample from Ecker's child, which were forwarded to a laboratory. In March, detectives say they learned toxicology results concluded the 2-year-old tested positive for both methamphetamine and amphetamine.

Ecker admitted to using the drugs but said she never forced her daughter to use drugs.

It's also sparked a dispute between the provinces of Alberta, which has the world's third-largest oil reserves, and British Columbia.

Sadly, the results indicated the two-year-old had been exposed to the drug on numerous occasions.

A Montana daycare worker was arrested for allegedly building a drug den inside a cabinet so she could smoke meth at work. She was also charged with lewd and lascivious battery, and transmission of harmful material to a minor from an unrelated investigation. Instead, Limpert "proceeded to place [the child] into their backyard pool to use the cold water to "shock" her", the police report said.

Authorities also reported finding a tube filled with crystals analysis later determined to be meth.

The 30-year-old, who has been working at the YMCA for three years in the infant center, admitted to having a history of drug use with heroin and opioids. She denied ever smoking or ingesting drugs in the presence of the child and denied any knowledge of the child being exposed to drugs. While the injury was deemed an accident, police investigated Payne after she appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

It's unclear if Ecker has a lawyer who can speak on her behalf at this time.
