Google is readying up a new UI design for Gmail

Glowing Gmail icon

The improved design includes features such as offline support, smart replies and a snooze option to deal with annoying messages.

It'll also be possible to ask recipients to confirm their identities with a text-based passcode.

Google had indeed acknowledged that such changes in Gmail are in the offing and that the company is working on it.

This means that users will be able to take advantage of Google apps such as Google Calendar, Keep or Tasks and have them right at their fingertips in Gmail via a sidebar.

Walking on the line of other applications like Snapchat, Line and Signal, Gmail is also devising a feature which will let users draft self-destructing emails.

Kilkenny People owner's horse pipped at the post in the Grand National
Tiger Roll held off Pleasant Company in a thrilling finish to win the Grand National at Aintree on Saturday. He'll not have to hope anymore, having just guided home the 10/1 victor of the 2018 rendition of the race.

As presented by TechCrunch, a small lock icon appears in the compose window for an email which represents "Confidential Mode".

According to a screenshot shared by TechCrunch, Google said "In the coming weeks, we'll be announcing an Early Adopter Program (EAP) for a new experience in Gmail". As per some screenshots, users will be able to set an expiration date so that the sent email disappears or is unreadable after a week or several years depending on what they choose.

Rumors are flying that Google is on the edge of releasing a major update to the web version of Gmail - one of Google's most widely used products, boasting at least a billion users. The message hints at a fresh, clean look for Gmail on the web. The setting prevents the email (on the recipient side) from being forwarded, downloaded, copied or printed in any way. From there they'll need to login again to read the email. The same features will be available for the regular Gmail users as well. It is very likely that the company will show off the new design and features during its Google I/O developer conference. "Most importantly it's not a dumbed down version of Search, it's a search version that meets the needs of people and the devices and connections they are on", says Mich Atagama, head of communications and public affairs for Google SA.

Would these features make you feel better about the security of your email account?
