Apple to fix iOS11 bug that enables Siri to read hidden notifications

Shadowgun Legends now available on Android and iOS

In fact, in a statement published today, the tech titan said, "We are aware of the issue and it will be addressed in an upcoming software update". That apart, a new bug discovered by Mac Magazine seems to be the most notorious one.

With iOS 11.3 thought to be imminent, Apple may chose to bundle in the fix. And while the bug only applies to third-party notifications - as opposed to Apple's own Messages app - the popularity of third-party messaging services from the likes of WhatsApp certainly makes the bug something to worry about. Apple could decide that this is a serious enough bug to send out a patch immediately with an update that would probably be iOS 11.2.7. It is unclear when the update will be released and whether or not users will have to wait until iOS 11.3 or if it could be released sooner.

Since Siri is not equipped with the capability to distinguish between different voices, it gives a free reign to anyone with access to an iPhone to command Siri to read out notifications. The problem remains in iOS 11.3 beta and iOS 11.2.6 devices until Apple issues the fix. With this bug, anyone can ask Siri to read the contents of the message and thus breach privacy.

Hulk Hogan May Be Returning To The WWE
Shortly after this Bryan made a decision to call it a career inside the ring and was moved to a non-physical role on WWE TV. And fans are giddy at the prospect of seeing one of their favorites get back in the ring and do what he loves.

If you use a feature baked into iOS 11 that lets you hide messages, you might be disappointed to learn that Siri isn't so good at keeping that content hidden.

Gadgets Now tried it and was able to replicate the issue in the company's most advanced smartphone - iPhone X.

Users have the ability to temporarily disable it, albeit at their own inconvenience, by simply turning off "Show Lock Screen" within the Settings and Notifications option. To do so, go to Settings Siri & Search Disable Allow Siri When Locked.
