The move came as part of Google's announcement that it had removed 3.2 billion "bad ads" in 2017, nearly double the amount removed during the previous year.

Policies: Their policies are their principles around what they allow to be monetised. By this move, the technology company said it was able to block the majority of bad adverts experiences, like malvertising and phishing scams, before the scams impacted people.

There has been an increase in bad ads/sites removed in 2017 compared to 2016.

Online ads enable all sorts of free services online, including search and social networks and the article you're reading now, but Google is working harder than ever to keep the bad ones at bay.

"Improving the ads experience across the web, whether that's removing harmful ads or intrusive ads, will continue to be a top priority for us", said Spencer.

SC upholds barring of foreign law firms from practicing in India
The issue involved in this batch of matters is whether foreign law firms/lawyers are permitted to practice in India. Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel opined, "Fly in and fly out would cover a casual visit and not amount to practice".

Blacklisted 700,000 mobile apps for violating ad policies. Google defines tabloid cloakers as scammers that try to game the system by pretending to be news.

Bad actors have moved into the crytocurrency space to defraud internet users, and Google said it took down 3.2 billion ads that violated its advertising policies in 2017, almost double the number of ads it removed in 2016. Also included were 66 million "trick-to-click" ads in 2017 and 48 million ads that were attempting to get users to install unwanted software.

Stansfield said in 2018, Google will be adding several new policies that will address adverts in unregulated, overly complex, or speculative financial products like binary options, cryptocurrency, foreign exchange markets and contracts for difference (or CFDs), adding: "we have already updated our gambling policies to address new methods of gambling with items that have real-world value, such as skins gambling". It also removed 400,000 unsafe sites.

And it's working! In 2017, Google noticed that this specific type of scam steadily declined on their networks as the year progressed: In a single month in 2016, they reviewed more than 1,200 sites for potentially violating their new misrepresentative content policy and terminated 200 publishers. These websites earn a fee for referring new customers to these products but are lightly regulated.
