Case Keenum reportedly plans to sign with Broncos

Case Keenum reportedly plans to sign with Broncos

The Denver Broncos know they needed a quarterback after the fiasco they went through previous year.

After spending the first four seasons mostly as a backup, Keenum had a career year with the Minnesota Vikings last season, helping them reach the NFC Championship game.

His last-second touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs, dubbed "The Minneapolis Miracle", sent the Vikings to the conference title game, where they were thrashed 38-7 by the Philadelphia Eagles. That kind of structure was expected to cause some attrition amongst the teams expected to pursue Cousins - and it ultimately became a reality when Denver began laying plans for the first day of free agency.

The 30-year-old will look to help steer the Broncos to a bounce-back season after they went 5-11 in 2017. The Broncos were blighted by poor quarterback play last season, with Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler, and Paxton Lynch all failing to impress.

Keenum finished the season with 3,547 yards passing to go with 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Local ICE spokesman resigns over Jeff Sessions comments
The mayor of Oakland went out, and she went out and warned them all: "scatter". "I felt like we weren't doing that", he said. Homan. "It's the job of a public affairs officer to offer transparency for the agency you work for", he told the Chronicle .

As momentum shifted away from Kirk Cousins, the Broncos zeroed in on their preferred target Case Keenum.

This is part of the reason the Broncos believe Keenum is a better fit.

According to Jeff Legwold of ESPN, the Broncos expressed interest not only in Cousins but in Keenum's former teammate Teddy Bridgwater too.

At the scouting combine, two weeks before the start of free agency, Elway did compare the "fluid" nature of chasing a quarterback in free agency this year to the pursuit of Manning.

For Keenum, he will now face a pile of expectations in a quarterback-crazed region that saw its team win a Super Bowl just two seasons ago. Instead of being forced into drafting a quarterback, the Broncos may be able to consider running back Saquon Barkley and guard Quenton Nelson, with of whom are considered the best prospects at their respective positions in quite some time. "I think we still have a good defensive football team".
