Ford Announces the Mustang GT California Special

America's favorite sports vehicle gets even more style and technology for 2019 thanks to the revival of the legendary Mustang GT California Special, new technology features including rev-matching on 5.0-liter manual-equipped models, the first-ever custom-tuned B&O Play premium audio system for Mustang and three new vintage-inspired colors and over-the-top stripes. The new 2019 Mustang GT California Special is inspired by the 1967 Shelby GT notchback coupe prototype, which was referred to as the original California Special.

For 2019 all Mustang GT's with the manual transmission will now feature rev matching.

The 50th anniversary Bullitt Mustang isn't the only special version of Ford's muscle auto icon being introduced for 2019. The GT/CS will join the Bullitt as new-again special editions.

Most notably, perhaps, is the Cali Special's fading side stripe that flows from the "5.0" badge and into the side scoop.

Betsy DeVos Struggles To Answer Simple Questions In '60 Minutes' Interview
"I hesitate to talk about all schools in general because schools are made up of individual students attending them", DeVos replied.

Other special visual features include unique five-spoke painted/machined wheels, a blacked-out open grille, and a Race Red "California Special" badge on the decklid applique. Climbing inside, this limited-run Mustang is adorned with Miko suede seats, red stitching, and special "GT/CS" embroidering throughout.

Ford on Monday also announced some general updates for the 2019 Mustang range. A 1,000-watt 12-speaker B&O Play sound system will also be an option. Like 2018, the 5.0-liter cars will make 460 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. What took everyone by surprise was its driver-controlled, fully active exhaust mode and quiet start mode, also known as good neighbor mode.

Ford says the California Special Mustang will be available in a variety of vibrant-looking paint jobs including, crucially, the same Dark Highland Green that comes on the Bullitt.

The 2019 Mustang goes on sale this summer.
