President Trump Holds "Listening Session" on Violent Video Games

President Trump Holds

Donald Trump's meeting with video game industry figureheads today has got off to a bad start, with a White House official referring to ESRB President Patricia Vance as "Mr" in a released statement.

Video game makers and liberal-leaning media routinely claim that there is no link between violent video games and real-world criminal violence.

The entertainment industry has continued to push violent content and has not been willing to confront the impact it has on children, according to Melissa Henson, program director of the Parents Television Council, who participated in the White House meeting.

Studies have shown there is little correlation between video game violence and reality.

"The problem is violence, a violence of monstrous and horrific proportions that has infected America's popular culture", he wrote.

Baldwin says the best way to support Wisconsin workers is to enact strong buy-American standards like she's supported and renegotiate a better deal on the North American Free Trade Agreement.

The Washington Post says a spokesperson for Representative Hartzler confirmed her plan to attend, and a White House spokesperson told the paper that there may well be more meetings to come.

Xi Jinping becomes China's 'president for life' as Parliament abolishes term limits
The Communist Party gave Xi the title of "core" leader in 2016, a significant strengthening of his position at the time. He also fought corruption, punishing more than a million party members - which has helped his popularity among some.

The White House said the meeting was an "opportunity to discuss violent game exposure and the correlation to aggression and desensitisation in children" following the shooting massacre of 17 students and adults at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida last month. The White House said it'll be "the first of many with industry leaders" on this issue.

Among the scheduled attendees were Strauss Zelnick, CEO of TakeTwo Interactive Software, and Robert Altman, CEO of Zenimax Media, where Trump's younger brother Robert sits on the board. "Somehow, Democrats isolate the inherent evil of a gun nearly as if it's self-shooting, while denying our violent media has any influence on these under-21 shooters", he wrote at the time. "The process by which the ratings are applied is secretive, those who administer them are accountable to nobody; and parents have no real recourse when they are misapplied", Henson said.

"Blaming video games or the entertainment media for the 90 American lives lost every single day to gun violence is an unacceptable excuse to avoid talking about serious policy proposals". "We hope that this is just the first step towards meaningful reform, meaningful remedies and solutions to our real life gun violence", he said.

US President Donald Trump has suggested that fantasy video game violence may play a part in mass shootings. Asked why it has taken Trump so long to visit the state, Sanders said, "I think it's because he's been busy growing the economy, creating jobs, defeating ISIS, remaking the judiciary".

Outside the meeting, Democratic senators accused Trump of wasting time and using a meeting on video game violence to distract from needed action on gun control. Vice president Joe Biden held three days of talks on gun violence prevention and also met with video game industry executives. (The 7-2 decision was notably co-signed by progressive-leaning justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan, and Sonia Sotomayor.) The court struck down California's attempt to restrict the sale and rental of violent video games to minors.

In their book Moral Combat: Why the War on Video Games Is Wrong, Patrick M. Markey, a professor of psychology at Villanova University, and Christopher J. Ferguson, a professor at Stetson University, disputed views like those expressed by Bevin.
