Batman Ninja Box Art and Release Date Revealed

Batman Ninja Box Art and Release Date Revealed

And, of course, there is Batman Ninja, the exciting new anime feature due out later this year. But now we finally know when to expect it - and what the awesome adventures of a modern-day Batman in Feudal Japan are going to sound like in English.

Batman Ninja will see the Dark Knight - as well a collection of his rogues gallery led by the Joker and a squad of his allies - transported back to Feudal Japan where a tech-less caped crusader will need to adopt the way of the warrior to defeat his enemies.

Batman Ninja was created by some of Japan's top animation industry talents, including director Jumpei Mizusaki (opening animation of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure), writer Kazuki Nakashima (Gurren Lagann), and character designer Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai).

The film will be released digitally on April 24, with a Blue-ray and DVD copy coming in retailers on May 8. The villains are feudal lords ruling over the divided lands, with the Joker leading the warring factions. As his traditional high-tech weaponry is exhausted nearly immediately, Batman must rely on his intellect and his allies - including Catwoman and the extended Bat-family - to restore order to the land, and return to present-day Gotham City.

The latest English-dubbed trailer from Warner Bros.

Taliban kill 4 security personnel in Pakistan attack
Gunmen on Wednesday killed four paramilitary policemen in an ambush in Pakistan's restive southwestern province of Balochistan , officials said.

Batman Ninja stars Roger Craig Smith (Resident Evil, Assassin's Creed, Batman: Arkham Origins) as Batman and Tony Hale (Arrested Development) as the Joker.

The script was then reinterpreted and rewritten for English-language distribution by award-winning screenwriters Leo Chu and Eric Garcia (Supah Ninjas, Afro Samurai). With that, it's kind of unusual that its taken until 2018 for somebody to go "Hey, why don't we, like, really make Batman a ninja, in a full-on Japanese anime and everything?".

The Japanese language trailer was released December 1. "Our partners at Warner Bros".

The idea that Batman exists as a stealthy, gadget-wielding, contemporary crime-fighting nocturnal ninja may seem like a given at this point, but it's a fairly recent trope that was ignited by movie and comic book reinventions and is far from the 1939 vision of a costumed rope-swinging detective of creators Bob Kane and Bill Finger.
